Basic Terms
- WWW: The World Wide Web is a full-color, multimedia database of information on the Internet. The World Wide Web is a universal mass of web pages connected together through links.
- Access number: The telephone number dialed by the modem that lets your computer communicate with an online service or Internet Service Provider.
- ISP: The Internet Service Provider is your connection to the Internet. You use an ISP to connect onto the Internet every time you log on.
- Surfing: The process of "looking around" the Internet.
- URL: URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator and is the address of each web site. URL’s typically begin with http://www.
- Web Page : Every time you are on the Internet, you are looking at a Web Page.
- Site: A site is a place on the Internet. Every web page has a location where it resides called it's site.
- Domain Name : The name of a specific Internet area controlled by a company, school, or organization.
